「21世紀は創造と革新の世紀である」。国際連合の第5回政府再構築グローバルフォーラムにおいて、メキシコの大統領ヴィンセンテ・フォックス氏はこう宣言しました。この目標の実現のため、今の時代には「ルネサンスを起こす新しい人材」が求められています。
神田昌典さんは、まさにそのような人材です。彼は －経営コンサルタント、メディアで取り上げられる著名人、ビジネス作家、小説家、スポーツマン、社会的ロールモデルといった傑出した経歴のマインドマップ®に－ ミュージカル『With You』の総合プロデューサーという新しい領域を描くことになりました。
私は昌典に、そして彼の夢－創造性豊かな社会の実現に、拍手喝采（スタンディング・オベーション）を送ります。その社会の実現には、天賦の才と情熱、そして覚悟をもったヴィジョナリーな人材が多数必要ですが、この神田昌典という逸材は、これからの社会が必要とするその資質を、本当に素晴らしく体現しているのです。
私は45年間にわたって、脳と学習について講演、著述活動を行ってきました。まだ大学生だった頃、私は、すべてを学ぶ前に、まず学ぶべきことがあると気づいたのです。それは、いかにして学ぶか「学び方を学ぶ」ことでした。
そこから私の人生の旅は、世界中のありとあらゆる年齢の人々に、脳を効果的に使う方法を教える道へと進んでいきました。それは、人々が自分の持つ本当の可能性を発見できるよう、導く道でした。
30年ほど前、私はマインドマップ®を発明しました。現在では、世界中の大勢の人々によって使われている思考ツールです。私は政府や教育機関、多国籍企業との仕事を通して、この脳にやさしいツールが、いかに多くの人々の能力を高めるかをこの目で見てきました。人生をうまくコントロールする能力や、効率よく計画する力、そして効果的に学習したり、復習したりする力を高め、本当にクリエイティブで斬新な思考を人々が身に着けるのを見守ってきたのです。
私は神田さんとともに、この「学び方を学ぶ」不可欠な方法を日本のみなさんへお届けします。このツールは、みなさんのビジネスや、地域社会、家族、学校、そしてお子さんたちのために、きっと役に立つことでしょう。
私たちの目標は、マインドマップを学校に普及し、子どもたちが教育から最高の利益を得られるようにすることです。そして、年々競争が激化していくクリエイティブな世界で、効果的に渡り合っていける能力を身に着けてもらうことです。もう一つの目標は、クリエイティブな思考や、プロジェクト・マネジメント、リーダーシップ・スキル、技術革新のニーズに応え、ビジネスと個人の両方に世界的な規模で取り組んでいくことです。
20世紀は映画スターとともに始まり、急速にポップスターやスポーツスターの時代へと移り変わっていきました。21世紀は、最も重要なスター『ブレインスター（頭脳スター）』が誕生するでしょう。神田昌典さんは、まさにそのスターの一人です。そのような人物を支援し、私のライフワークであり夢である知的能力の普及と向上を、日本のために捧げることは、私にとって、この上ない喜びです。
The Twenty-First Century has been declared by President Vincente Fox of Mexico, at the 5th United Nations Conference on Quality and Innovation, to be 'The Century for the Development of Innovation and Creativity'. It is a Century that requires, for the realisation of this goal, the emergence of a new breed of 'Renaissance Man'.
Masanori Kanda is such a man. Business man, media star, business author, novelist, athlete and role model, he now adds another branch to the Mind Map of his extraordinary life with his first musical 'Confessions of Self-made Millionaires'.
I add my own enthusiastic applause (a standing ovation!) to Masanori and his dream of helping realise a 'Creative Society', a society that needs, for its own creation, visionaries with the genius, passion and commitment so wonderfully demonstrated by this remarkable man.
I have spent 45 years lecturing and writing about the brain and learning. Whilst still a student at University, I realised that before we can learn everything there is to learn in this world, we must first learn how to learn.
This began my life's journey into teaching people all over the world and of all ages how to use their brains more effectively in order to discover their true potential.
Some 30 years ago, I invented the Mind Map®, an organisational thinking tool which is now used by many hundreds of millions of people around the world. In my travels I work with governments, educational authorities and multinational companies, and I have seen just how this and other brain friendly tools have brought so many people the ability to better manage their lives, to plan more efficiently, to study and revise more effectively and to be truly creative and innovative in their thinking.
I shall be working with Kanda-san to bring these vital 'Learning how to Learn' techniques to Japan: for your businesses; your communities; your families; your schools; and your children.
Our goal is to promote the usage of Mind Mapping in all your schools to enable your children to get the very best out of your educational system and for them to be able to compete more effectively in an increasingly competitive and creative world. Our goal is also to work with global businesses and individuals in their need for creative thinking, project management, leadership skills, and innovation.
The Twentieth Century started with film stars, and rapidly moved to singing stars, pop stars and sports stars. The Twenty-First Century will see the rise of the most important of all these stars - the Brain Star. Masanori Kanda is such a Star. I am very happy to be putting my life's work and my dream of Mental Literacy for Japan in the hands of such a man.
